Demolition Building Rules
General
All Track Safety procedures must be followed at all times, and it must
be remembered that track officials are in charge. Track Official
decisions are final.
Construction
1. All glass must be removed except windshields, taking care that no
broken glass remains in car to fall out later. No screening may be
substituted for windshield, no lexan or plexi glass. All glass must be
removed before coming to the race track. Duct tape is to be placed
around window edge where glass was broken out. We will not allow any
glass to be removed at the race track. Any cars coming to the race track
with glass remaining will be disqualified.
2. Doors (front and rear) must be securely fastened shut. They may be
bolted, chained (with bolts) no knots, or welded closed. Cars with
operative doors will be disqualified. You may put a plate 12" high from
wheel well opening to wheel well opening on the drivers’ door.
3. Fuel tanks may be moved in board (as far from driver as possible)
securely fastened to floor, covered, and fitted with a tight filter cap.
4. Engine fans may be removed, but radiators cannot be relocated.
Absolutely no prestone in radiators - WATER ONLY.
5. No studded tires may be used. “Puncture Seal” type products are
permitted.
6. All interior upholstery including headliners, door panels and seats,
except front seats, are to be removed. This is to be done before
arriving at the race track.
7. Door reinforcing bars may be used on both the driver and passenger
doors on the outside only.
8. Cars must not have fluid leaks. IE: engine oil, transmission fluid,
differential lubricants, coolants, etc.
9. Any car may be used except convertibles and must remain completely
stock. No reinforcing frames, welding springs, blocking frames.
10. Cars with excessive rust outs will be disqualified.
11. No profane lettering, lewd slogans or untactful artwork will be
allowed printed on cars.
12. Cars must have legible numbers painted on both sides within the door
area ( not fenders or quarter panels) as well as the roof. Side numbers
must be a minimum of 24" in height. Maximum two (2) digits. Numbers are
on a first come first served basis on race day. Track officials are not
responsible for miss scoring because of improperly numbered cars. Full
doors must be painted white with black number.
13. Track Officials will paint a number on car before they enter
competition, if needed.
14. Trunk & hood may be bolted shut - NOT WELDED as tech officials must
have access into the trunk & hood to check for bracing, weight, etc. If
trunk or hood is welded it will be cut open for tech inspection. **DOORS
MUST BE PAINTED WHITE WITH BLACK LETTERS (#’S - MINIMUM OF 20" HIGH BY
3" WIDE
Safety
1. Safety helmets and seat belts must be worn at all times, by all
competitors (including co-drivers) when on the track.
2. All drivers must be of legal driving age and possess a valid driver’s
license. Upon request before you are allowed to enter competition.
Entrants under 19 years of age must have a permission document signed by
parent or legal guardian.
3. Drivers must follow flagman’s directions. Verbal abuse of officials
will bring immediate disqualification.
4. No overly aggressive driving during preliminaries.
5. No hitting in driver’s door.
6. Once a car is disabled during Demo, removal of flag will signify “NO
MORE HITTING”. No second chances.
7. Drivers must remain in their car, with helmet on, after disabled in
Demo, unless danger exists by doing so.
8. Engines must be shut off when car is disabled, no restarting engines.
No intentional engine blowing.
9. A fire extinguisher is mandatory in every car and must be accessible
by the driver. You will not be permitted to race without one.
10. Absolutely no alcohol or drugs will be permitted in the pit area.
Any person suspected of alcohol or drug use will be disqualified. If any
alcohol or drugs are found in your possession or in the immediate area
of your pit stall, you will also be disqualified.
11. Cars will be assigned pit stalls upon arrival at the race track. You
must follow parking instructions.
Qualification & Rules
1. Only two (2) drivers will be permitted to drive one (1) car and both
must register with the car upon arrival at the race track.
2. Drivers will draw for line-ups of the preliminary events in the
drivers meeting. You must start a minimum of two (2) preliminary events
to qualify for qualifying Demolition. This does not include “cash
challenges” organized by drivers. When the line-up is called for by the
track official and you do not make the line-up within the amount of
given time you will start from the rear of the field.
3. Bag race drivers will be disqualified if bag is removed. Co-drivers
will be disqualified for using controls, and hands must be clearly
visible, touching dashboard at all times.
4. No excessive spinning of tires is allowed.
5. All hitting during Demolition Derby must take place in the infield.
Cars are not allowed to circle the track on the asphalt oval. Any
intentional driving on the racing surface will result in
disqualification.
6. The Demolition Derby will consist of those cars who competed in two
(2) preliminary events. If you are disqualified you are expected to stop
moving and shut your engine off.
7. All cars MUST be inspected before going onto the track.
8. Each Driver is allowed to register only one (1) car under one
(1)number in each race meet. There will be no changing of numbers on
cars after registration or after racing begins. Points will be awarded
to the car # and the registered driver of that car for each race. If a
drivers car becomes disabled they will not be permitted to purchase or
borrow another car and put their number on that car. Any attempt to do
so will result in the immediate disqualification of the drivers and cars
involved and points & prizes for the event will be revoked.
Any infraction of these rules will result in penalties and Track
Officials will decide, in accordance with the infraction, these
penalties. We withhold the right to withhold monies earned, disqualify
drivers from future Demolitions or ban people from Miramichi City
Speedway indefinitely.
Final Word to Drivers
In summary: No alcoholic beverages or drugs permitted, No fighting,
Drivers are totally responsible for all those who signed in with their
demo car. In case of disputes, MANAGEMENT DECISION IS FINAL! Play Fair,
Play Safe and have some Fun. If you win, it’s a bonus!
